Intro and Headlights wont work ???

Hi all,

First off I would like to say hi to all. I am new to the FZR forums, however not new to motorcycles. I used to be an automotive tech prior to the Army so I am pretty mechanically inclined and know my way around a garage. Over the past three years I have been buying/riding/selling bikes on the side, mostly just to keep me working on things, and I have made ok money doing so. I just sold my 08 ZX6R and 04 Meanstreak and went down to zero bikes on hand...this is a problem. So, the bike I found for my winter project is:

A 93 FZR 600. It has 22K miles, exhaust and has been jetted. newer tires, brakes and fork seals. Overall I would give the condition of the bike a C+ or a B-. I spent the weekend doing all the basics on the bike as well as tearing it down to see what the PO did or did not mention to me (mostly replacing bolts/nuts, cleaning, fixing clutch cable...ect...)

The bike runs good and starts up fine all the electrics work no issue....except...the headlights. This brings me to my issue. Ok so the bike's headlight low beams do not work at all. The high beams work fine.

Here is what I have done so far to diagnose/fix (I HAVE READ ALL THE SEARCH RESULTS WITH MODERATE HELP):

1. replaced both bulbs (PO had some green bulbs that were ugly so was going to do this anyway) did not fix.
2. 20AMP Headlight fuse is good and works
3. I took apart the starting switch box (right hand side) to see if the "blue wire was disconnected" it was not. It is soldered in and seems to be good.
4. checked actuall head light plug (goes into bulb) with multimeter. No power to while bike is running. When I switch to high beams the high beam contact (I think it was yellow wire) reads 11.7 Volts or so.

So where does this leave me? Is there a headlight relay or secondary fuse just for the headlights? Please assist.

Thanks,

Dan

If I recall the blue wire in question is in the left side switch casing. Might want to check there if you haven't already

Disregard All...

Issue resolved. In fact I had not yet taken off the headlight switch. :duh: I did this, and behold...the green wire was disconnected....off to buy a soldering gun....
