Fork swap?
Since either one or both of mine are bent, what forks can I swap out? Which work best/are easiest to do? I love my bike, but she needs a lot of work, and more importantly, money that I won't have for the next 4 years...

Re: Fork swap?
If you wanna keep it FZR than any year will fit. If you want 4 piston calipers then 91 and newer is what you want. Then you can get those prettier looking blue spot YZF600/R6/R1 calipers.

Re: Fork swap?
any yzf600r front end will bolt on. 96 fork were fully adjustable 97+ area easier to fined.

haha yeah, I kinda realized that. But I love her. Even if I do end up getting a new bike I'm going to hold onto her.

How do the 96 differ from the later years in adjustability? They all have pre-load after 97 - right?abs600fzrr wrote:any yzf600r front end will bolt on. 96 fork were fully adjustable 97+ area easier to fined.

BTW I just went to ebay to take a look around for some YZF forks, none to be found. But these R6 forks popped up during my search. I had to share:

Re: Fork swap?
94-96 YZF forks had preload adjust ability ONLY. 97+ were pretty much fully adjustable (similar to early R6). If money is an issue then focusing on FZR forks is best as it will be less. As for those BENT AND DAMAGED forks, I've seen nicer go for less than that shipped!!mszilves wrote:+1 I'd also like to know.ragedigital wrote:How do the 96 differ from the later years in adjustability? Re: Fork swap?
96 only had proload. 95 was just like fzr forks. if you see blue adjuster on the stop of 1st gen yzf600 forks then you got preload. 1st gen look better thought.

Re: Fork swap?
Looks like I have a set of 97+ YZF forks. They have the blue top (pre-load) with a screw up top (rebound) and a screw at the bottom (compression). Looks like the bottom drain screw is set inward facing the rim, so you have to remove the forks completely to drain.
