You can get a 120 front and if you're lucky a 150 rear. The 150 on the 89 is really pushing it though.

I wouldn't go bigger than a 140 on an 89 rim. 130 is stock. Stick to 110/140. Now, you can swap a 90+ rim on there with no mods and run a 150 and a few 160 tires if they still make them. All you need is a 90+ rim and the spacers.

I just finished putting on a 150/70-18 avon roadrider on my 89 Fizzer.... so I know it fits... hint ... take the caliper off to mount it to make it clear easier though.

Wasn't the point that the 89 rear rim is 1/2" thinner than the 90+ rims. Can't remember off the top of my head but I think the 89 rim is 3.5" and the 90+ is 4" or something similar.

I think that was TK's point, I.E. will a 150 tire sit right on a thinner rim (the shape surface area contact) Jumping 2 sizes could be a bad idea.

Yep, take their word for it, just remember you shoot yourself in the foot when you put a wide tire on a thin rim, yeah you can brag you got a wide tire... Cough cough 180.. Cough cough... Hehe, but when you do that to any bike, you create a roll on the edges of the road section of the tire and create a peak in the center, so your actually hurting what handling you may have had, sooo yeah, 89 equals 140 , 90's equal 150...
