And the rebuild is underway *With a new teaser!

after extensive electrical gremlins the bike took a lovely trip to the nearest yamaha workshop. I wish I had the time to work on it at home, but with 11-13 hour days 5 days a week and a garage lacking any type of organization or useful tools, I relented to giving it up to the professionals.

While the bike is there, the bodywork is underway and primer has been applied.

Here are the first few pics...

Paint will be 2008 Mustang Dark Candy Apple Red with High Gloss Black striping... White decals and flat Black frame.

Enjoy! RRBike

Just a teaser of the progress:

The bike is back and running like a champ. The shop was impressed with how well it ran actually. And it only cost me...drumroll...$178!!! WOO. Not bad.

Upper and tank cover being lined up. The frame and forks will be powdercoated in the winter. The paint needs a good buffing, but the metal flake in the sun is G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S! I'll be ordering the decals this week. Enjoy.

Man I about crapped myself from that first pic. It looked like you were swapping to a OW01 fairing at first glance. Then I scrolled down and regain some composure when I realized I was seeing things.

Looks like fun man, good luck.

haha from a previous owner actually...although the one time I contacted Airtech for a windscreen, I have to admit they were pretty helpful. IDK :headbang:

I'll be doing the paint. I'll set up a makeshift booth and spray away. You see guys, I'm not so inexperienced with engines and body work that I can't handle the build, but I my summer job is piling on the hours. In fact, I built a Wrangler that I bought on my 16th birthday all through high school. Instead of letting the bike sit in the garage until I have some serious motivation to fix the electrical, I figured I'd have someone take care of it (and now I don't have to wait for shipping delays!). The body is a little different. Always motivated to make it look good! bonkonhead I'll keep everyone updated with pics as soon as I get them!

94,
You will have to get used to us lot, we hate to see anyone not DIY'ing there beloved bike, but hey I do not do all my own stuff. Mind you I was a Yamaha Service agent :notworthy: but even so It was sometimes cheaper for me to farm out work than doing it myself.

Painting 50 Motorcycles in a fleet colours, making custom silencers,, expansion chambers (I designed 'em, got them rolled one place and gas welded at a next ) some machining like boring I did personally (the other guy was too hit & miss on specs) other stuff went under the counter at the local UNI workshop.

In reality I could do any thing on the bike EXCEPT stitch the naugahide for seats, fitting ,foam shaping no problem,
jobs I hated to do change MX tyres, road tyres seemed softer.
