Why has one of the cables to my CDI been cut ?

Can someone explain why the Red/White cable to/from the CDI has been cut on my bike ?

...and what is the purpose ?

Should I change back ?

looks like that one goes to the pickup coil.


maybe if went bad somewhere else and it was easier to route it the new way?

That is thee side that goes to the pickup coil, you're right about that. From what I can see in the wiring diagram that wire should (I could be wrong) go to the tachometer and the other 2 to the pickup coil. Hmmm, I just checked out my crapped out ex-racer fizzer and it doesn''t even have that wire.

The BLACK cable is part of the bikes originally electric system !
But where do it go ?

What is that RED/WHITE cable comining out from the CDI unit ?
