hi all,

went out to my bike this morning and it woudnt start, engine or starter did nothing.....when i press the start button the red oil light comes on(sidestand is up and bike is in neutral).
Gave it a push and it started fine & turned off with the switch so its prob not that at fault......

The bike was left out in the pi**ing rain last night which might have something to do with it, usually it is covered up
the bikes not running right, its running as if there is not enough fuel getting to the engine(same as when you need to swich to reserve).
the oil is nearly full but will top it up to see if that makes any difference, going to take a look at the wiring later to see if theres anything damaged,
anyone know anything i should check/try?

First disconnect the Blue/White wire connected to the starter relay/solenoid, connect a Volt meter, press the start button. If you get no voltage, check the main relay for corroded prongs and the connector block. The main relay houses the fuel pump relay, and the start cut out relay (power to the Blue/White wire)

EDIT: This statement is incorrect. I've corrected it in a later post.

It's located behind the left rear panel, Black Box with 10 wires connected.

Chances are that your starter switch, (in the handgrip switchgear) got polluted by the rain.

This is a great area/item to fill with dielectric grease.

I ruled the Start Button out, because his oil lamp is illuminating. It's still something to consider tho.

hi guys,

SORTED :)
went to check the voltage at the relay and the wire was fried, looked like it was exposed a bit and the rain caused it to snap, Cheers for the help guys!

Just updating, and correcting an error, incase anyone else reads this thread.

The Blue/White wire coming from the Start Relay is already 12v positive. When the Start Button is pressed the Main Relay grounds the Start Relay.

I.E. disconnect the Blue/White wire on the Start Relay, Ground the Blue/White wire from the relay (NOT from the harness/loom) the engine will crank. I've just tested it on mine, it works.
