'89 FZR has later style VR w/no mods to connector!

I have a '93 FZR600 project bike I'm restoring (almost done i think) and just bought a non-running long time sitting '89FZR6 for parts. The '89 has the later looking voltage regulator installed which might come in handy on the '93 but I'm confused. It has 6 prongs, NOT the usual 5 on the VR! Could this VR be off another model Yamaha other than an FZR 600??
The harness plug-in only has 5 female connectors (it doesn't use the top center prong) but plugs right in. The plug-in looks completely stock (no mods!?) and that's another mystery!...unless the whole harness is from a 95 or later bike correct? I mean '89's thru '94 used a four prong connector to fit the older style VR....and that's what my '93 has now, the stock unit. Can I use this 6 prong VR on my '93 if I do the wiring mod? Thanks for any suggestion here

Simple answer: Yes, it can be used. It's probably an 07+ (I think) R1/R6 unit. The top center pin is a dead and the other five can be wired as normal.
