I need a hand in the Atlanta Area or North Georgia

I bought the bike used as kinda got screwed but now she slowly but surely being gone through and fixing all the last owners neglect. Well All I lack really is fixing is this dead spot that has plagued me since I've had her. I'm certain she needs the carbs sync'd, and the local Yamaha shop SUx and wont work on anything older than 99 or somthing, so I take her to Kirks cycle in dalton (REMEMBER THE NAME DONT GO THERE) I asked them about doing the job and dude says.... Your lookin at 400 - 450 bucks.. DUDE... My jaw dropped. That cant be right can it? I make 15/hr and wifes is full time student and we have 3 kids so that aint happenin.
To the point...
Does that sound right to you guys? and this is a long shot probably but does anyone in my area know how to sync carbs? I'm happy to pay

well considering you can get a set of carbs pretty much brand new for 400-450 i would definitely say they are trying to screw you. a carb sync is not that difficult a job. i've never actually done it on a bike, but i had it done on my 250 ninja and it was less than $200 for sure. i think the going rate for work is like $80/hr around my neck of the woods, and a carb sync doesn't take that long. if you've got some mechanical ability i would say go buy yourself a cheap sync tool and do it yourself. but if you need to take it to a shop, definitely dont take it to that one
btw, the local yamaha shop near me doesn't want to work on bikes older than 10 years either.

I believe the local stealership here wants $350 for a sync, I'm not sure if that includes a cleaning or not. The sync tool would pay for itself with one use if you go that route; and it's not that difficult (I've assisted but not done it on my own).

That is because Yamaha policy says they will supply spares for 10 years no more ( unless it is used on a laterr year model.
Can you imagine taking a job, then finding some crucial part is not available what do you tell the customer ..................

I get the same crap from my local dealership. But remember, in the US the FZR was made and sold until '99. That should give you one more year of them working on it. Doesn't seam to work though.
