First BIke! Now Has Problems!

Hi Im new to this forum and i did a search on some of the problems i have been having but i cant really find anything that is for sure my problem

I bought a 1990 fzr 600 about three weeks ago and it ran perfect. Then about a week and a half ago i was shifting down for a stop sign and the bike killed. Then I tried starting it back up and the battery was dead. So i roll started it and went on my way but it kept killing if i deaccelerated to a stop. After that I always had to roll start it and keep the throttle pretty wide open when pulling the clutch in to stop. THen one day i was ridding it and it ran fine and quit but when i restarted it i could barely keep it running, it was lurching forward and i had to keep the throttle wide open to keep it running at all.
I had the battery checked and it was completely shot.
From what i searched I think the problem could be the voltage regulator but im not sure. Any Ideas?

Thanks!

Was the battery dry (no electrolyte)? Have you replaced the battery? Have any bulbs blown? anything else not working (tacho, turn signals)? have you checked the charging voltage?

From what you say I suspect the bikes running on 2 cylinders.

Part of your problem is that there AREN'T any '9-prong cdi box' for the FZR. The '91 FZR600RB has 2 plugs on the TCI box (not CDI); one has 8 pins (3 used), while the other has 6 pins (all used). The RBC Cali model has a 13-pin connector (9 used) plus a rounded 6-pin connector (5 used) for the EXUP servo.

Do you physically NOT HAVE a TCI, or is it damaged and doesn't work?

The battery isnt dry, The guy I bought it from just replaced the battery and gave me a recipt to prove it. As far as I know everything else works such as the tach turn signals and lights. I havent checked the charging voltage yet im waiting on a friend to lend my his voltage reader.

What should i check to see if its running on 2 Cylinders?

Is there a way to test the VR?
