So I just checked out a 95 FZR600 today, and I'm planning to pick it up saturday. I gave the guy $300 to hold it for me but I do have a question. The bike needs coil and left side wires he said, and he would put them in for free if I brought him the parts. My question is what exactly am I looking for? Any links would be helpful.

What you're looking for is an ignition coil and the spark plug wires for the 1 and 2 cylinders. Shouldn't be hard at all to find. Some people even use the coil out of a ford escort. Just look around on the forum and ebay. Somebody should be able to help you out. Good luck!

PS where in MN are you?

Yep I'm a Minnesotan as well. I'm in the Mankato area now, but will be in Minneapolis for school in September. If you're ever in the area hit me up.

Ummm the left coil drives the 1 and 4 cyls. Make sure you see it running on all 4 if you go this route - another cause of no spark on two cyls is a bad ignitor box. canofworms

Hi,
well you are lucky one member guessed where in the world you are but for the rest of us down the line we will not remember so please add you location into your profile, not only identify you but what model spec bike you have as they do vary across the world in details.

Go back to the owner and ask him to give you a better description than "left side wires" & " coil "

We could be talking lh indicator wires , LH handlebar switch set and wiring, the whole of the stator wiring, ( basically all that gives the bike its electrical/ electronic drive)

Coils could be a pair of HT coils to power plugs 1 & 2 (lh when sitting on bike) which in fact need not be replaced if as another poster said the TDI (black box) ignition unit is fubarred.
Or the coils inside the stator cover that generate the ignition pulses and the charging for the battery
