LED turn signals

I just bought multiple bulb LED turn signals for my bike. If I just connect the rear 2 with the factory front signals they work fine. If I connect the front 2 then all the signals blink. I have tried the wiki article of converting the 2 wire signals to have the running lights and I either get all the lights flashing or they just all turn on. I can connect 1 front original and 3 led when I turn the signal on with the original all the lights will blink but if I switch to the side with the 2 led signals it works right. I could just use the led lights in the back but would rather have them all work. Any Ideas?

I have read a lot about a different flasher but that seem to be just for the fast blink and not the solid on or all flashing at once. I can buy the flasher at NAPA but would hate to spend another $20 if it does not help.

My bike when i bought it, had an integrated R6 2CO LED tail lamp fitted with stock front turn signals, the turn signals worked fine. I discovered the stock rear turn signals were still wired up and located on the R6 under fender (under the seat).
I removed the stock rears and all 4 flashed. I suspected the flasher unit didn't have enough load to handle the LEDs, the stock flasher unit has 5 wires, I replaced it with a 2 wire LED flasher unit, worked a treat.
This is from memory (i did the swap over a year ago) I think i used the Brown wire and the Brown/White wire from the stock 5 wire connector.
There is another solution, I only discovered that after my issue.

I tried a 2 wire electronic flasher but it did the same thing. All the lights just turn on. I just reconnected the factory signals and the work fine. I am at a complete loss from everything I read. Most people seem to get the lights flash too fast but mine do not flash at all. they just light up. I am pretty sure it is not the led turn signals as they work fine as long as I have the factory ones connected. I was hoping the electronic flasher worked but it did not. Any one have any other ideas? This seems like a lesson in the I spent money on a cosmetic upgrade and it did not work.

Like i said it was over a year ago I had the same issue, maybe all 4 of mine came on but did not flash (can't remember), I got a LED flasher relay, which rectified the problem.
You mention "electronic flasher" all flasher relays are electronic. Standard flasher relays rely on the load of the stock bulbs. LED's place lesser load on the relay. It really puzzled me, why all 4 came on when i removed the stock rear turn signals, still haven't figured it out.
Which flasher relay did you buy?
Try the load resistors. Its obviously not the LED turn signals.

There are thermal flashers and electronic flashers. The one I bought was from advance auto, it is an EL12. I may have bought the wrong one but I believe it is the correct type.

I will take the relay back and try to find one that states it is for LED lights. Napa had one but they have to order it. It is a GRO 44891. Thanks for the info.

You have in fact answered your own question with that statement. If the load on the relay is increased by adding an original bulb then the system works .
It therefor stands to reason that if all Led's are used the load is insufficient to drive the flasher relay but just enough to make a lighting circuit..
Therefor you have bought a relay that is too highly rated wattage wise to be used in an all LED system get either one with a rating that matches the wattage of the pair of LEDS you are using or an electronic version that will flash no matter what is connected (two bulbs, one LED & one bulb or 2 LED's.)

No part number, only markings are. C.L. Flasher LED lamps 12.8V. 85 c/m
The 2 prongs are B & L. Brown wire is connected to B, Brown/White is connected to L
Mine work with rear LEDs and stock fronts, Front and rear LEDs, or no turn signals connected the warning lamp still flashes at the correct rate.

Mal,
Yours is a fully electronic flasher with a timing device (a 555 circuit maybe ) not a relay as such, as it needs virtually no load to work it.

this is what i did to get my led working on my front, my fronts work as both turns and parking lights did the same thing to my buddys bike and he has the same problem as you still have not figured that out but i thing he has a wiring problem. but i found the relay at advanced and its a a/c pump relay.. 10 bucks isnt bad for it...part number 35928

I bought a flasher that states "60-120 Flashes Per Minute, External Wire Provides Ground, Steady Flash Rate For All LED & Incandescent Loads" but it still does not work without having 2 of the originals connected. I have the feeling she just does not want LED lights. I ordered the one from NAPA.

One more thing sprang to mind, my warning lamp is also a LED (I changed it before I fitted the front LED's), the stock warning lamp is 5 Watt. The 5 Watt bulb is the only connection between left and right positives.
The warning lamp is wired to Right turn signal positive & Left turn signal positive, power comes from the blinker's that are on, it grounds via the blinkers that are off.
lt61173 wrote:I can connect 1 front original and 3 led when I turn the signal on with the original all the lights will blink
That 5 Watt bulb could be letting through enough power to light up the LED signals that are not suppose to turn on.

What I think maybe happening there is the Stock turn signal bulb is the easiest route to ground. Pull the stock 5 Watt warning lamp bulb out and see what happens with all 4 LED signals fitted.
