oil change done and little review

ok... so i just performed my first oil change since i built this fighter. few things. first oil change (when i built the bike) i got a filter with the bike so i used that and Castrol GTX 20W50 synthetic blend.... it was ok but i got alot of clutch slipage, it did however keep the bike cool and run smooth

this round i went with a wix filter (they had a fram as well but i did not want that sucker to be bright orange on a all black motor :) ) and for fluids i used Vavoline high milage 20W50 synthetic blend (got it on sale for $2 a qt so figured why not)
I have to say... i got about 85 miles on the bike since i did it last night and i never had oil make such a differance in how a clutch locks up! my slip is almost completely gone, it is unreal! needless to say i am very pleased... took me about 30 min to get the old filter off, i must have man handed it when i put it on. even my filter wrenches would not get it off... had to pound a screw driver though it and slowly work it off... sucked, but got it done

changed the oil in 6 bikes in under 2 hours last night, i would say that is pretty good!

sounds like you have some bike experience but I'll ask anyway, are you making sure not to get oil with "friction reducing molecules" or whatever they're called? A common problem with clutch slippage is when people grab that. As for the filter, mine always seem difficult to get off but I picked up some plier style filter removers and works like a champ every time now.

It's a common mistake, the additives in most car oil wreak havoc on wet clutches. I haven't used a strap wrench in forever, wrenches ftw. Check out the Bosch filter if you want a black on, K&N has one with a nut on the tip for easy removal but is a bit pricey

WARNING!!!! DO NOT USE THE WIX FILTER!!!!!! it does not seal right, came out to a huge oil puddle around my bike! took the lame ass filter back and the guys at murrys hooked me up with a fram! worked great!
but the fram works great, have over 200 miles on her now with that filter and worked out great... wix = no good!
