Flat spot/missing and all that.

Post by delvryboy »

K, I'm lost when it comes to actual tuning. I seemed to have had a flat spot around 6-7k that I could accelerate past with just a slight studder. Lately it seems to be worsening, 6-8/9k and I get a lot of surging in that range. It's only under load and not really noticeable in 1st. Any ideas on where I should be concentrating? Also, it's worse when the engine is hot and high humidity seems to exaggerate the problem.

KInd of contradictory symptoms....

surging is usually lean..

high humidity and heat usually make jetting richer......if you were slightly lean in a circuit and it got hotter and stickier out, you shoulda gotten better, not worse

I know, but it sure does seem that way. It's definitely surging now, even WOT it surges in between 6-8k.

Humidity is down and it definitely ran better. Still surges/misses, just not as bad.

Any ideas? I'm going to put new plugs in this weekend, They're at least a few years old.

I guess it just got worse in general. Humidity was a lot lower and the temps are in the upper 70's. Was surging like a mofo on the tri-state.

As crazy as it seems, it worsened when I removed the fairings.
