Sometimes the starter button gets stuck or the wires come loose inside the control housing. I'd check that out.

That is a real possibility, I've been through 2. Usually if you put a little upward pressure on it, the light will come back. I never leave home without a rubber band. lol

I second all of this. You'll probably find some re soldering is in order. Easy fix. I thought I was going to have to do this but it turned out the battery had drained over a week. Check your voltage too. But probably the switch.

WOW! Thanks a lot guys! How did people survive without internet forums?
Went home last night and turn on bike... no headlights. Tapped starter switch housing a few times with a wrench.. Headlights came on!!!!

What bothered me was that my hl would come on with the ignition but then when I hit the starter switch and the bike cranked it would turn them off. I didn't know at first that the starter switch was the culprit so when I took it apart and didn't see anything wrong I got ticked off. Came to the forum and did a search and viola. So "what would people do without internet forums" to quote my dad "Hell, internet. Ha we just figured s**t out ourselves.... we didn't have fancy lazy-a** internet to tell us everything. You kids have it so ea........" He trailed off and I started using the impact wrench on something. Haha.
