build for acceleration and speed-

Post by rehaume »

so, I have finally fixed and replaced many parts on my bike and it runs very smooth and very well... but I want MORE. I'd like qucker acceleration more than a higher speed. but i need options and opions on what to do. i'm planning on doing the sprocket conversion very soon.. what else can i do to make this machine quicker, i'm not sure what a jet kit is. different exhaust could that help because im sure my old ssr2 is probably a little clogged, could lowering the bike help? just shoot me some opinions and if you know of any other options, let me know. chime in... oh and i recomend for everyone to use seafoarm :headbang:

oh and yamaha george i ended up getting new shims and plates in my clutch. bike runs amazing now.

Good I am glad that worked out, the guys on the forum use 520 chain and a different final drive ratio. Plus you can do REELRAZORS timing mod that seems to make the bike more responsive.

Lowering won't help much of anything unless you need it to safely stop. In reality it lessens your ground clearance improving the chances of dragging parts.

And seafoam definetly ftw. I've never touched my carbs and the only time they gave me an issue two seafoam treatments and it runs like a champ. That's on a bike with about 60k on the clock

I did rr's timing advance and it helped acceleration. my bike then ran funny so I changed it back, however I am sure I have other probs. Hook up with thatkid for some bolt on r6 headers that will add ponies.

what year of R6 headers should I be looking for... what kind of issues are you having since the rr timing change? and was the acceleration difference very noticeable? thanks guys

some pod filters and jet kit and full exhuast headers with a flo commander and ignition advancer and run some race gas and you be burnin up the rear :cop: tire in no time .. throw in the sprocket kit and hold on tite ..lol .. the sprocket kit would be where i would start with .. if you $$$4 to burn then go all out get a fzr 400 frame :notworthy: and swingarm and you will be lighter .. again once you do the sprocket kit the bike will feel faster allready .. if you can find a stock steel 530 sprocket with more teeth on it then you cant just slap that on cheap and you will notice a diff ..520 are lighter and very strong but the sprockets wear quickly IMHO but im sure others will differ depending on riding style ..

I believe all the r6 headers fit. Again Nate(thatkid) can tell you more about it. And the added benefit that he can powdercoat it for you. The 520 conversion helps on the accel, but I agree with pimp that it wears faster. Most people go with a -1/+2 for the conversion but there is another way to get the same final drive ratio with higher front and rear. The good thing about is the wear on the chain is less because the chain goes around the sprockets without getting in such a bind. I had troubles in low gear, but I still am and I think it's in the carbs. The nice thing about RR's advancement is that it is 100% reversible if you don't like it.
