I put maybe like 10ft-lbs on the adjuster nut and bam it snapped right away. Was very strange. Furthermore I was trying to adjust it because I switched to cable clutch from hydraulic and I was putting my sprocket cover on and the clutch lever was very stiff and wouldn't disengage the clutch. Any ideas what's going on here? I was really hoping to be back on the road by next week. But that really isn't gunna happen anymore..

If someone can send you picture of how it looks as 1 piece and refering to the micro-fiche I would think you can easily fix this.
as you can see the whole thing was originally held by 4 tack welds you cab organise that surely ?

Yup gunna have it rewelded .

I just gotta get my clutch plates to unbind. Any ideas?

This is a guess.

I've never swapped a swinger, nor had to change to a ZX6R front sprocket for chain alignment (as you have), you did use a 520 lighter version? (im guessing lighter also means a thinner chain) if not the clutch push assembly could be hitting the possibly thicker chain, causing the stiff non disengaging clutch.

As i say this is a guess, maybe one of the members who have done the ZX6R front sprocket, can shed light.

No there is no contact between the mechanisms. Good thinking though.

Did you use a 520 chain and sprockets? why do the members who have done the "ZX6R front sprocket" say a 520 is necessary?

When you attempt to disengage the clutch, the clutch push assembly will move towards the chain/sprocket.

What are these marks? contact with the chain? but it's not normal wear and tear. Just hoping you get her on the road soon.

Yes I am using a 520. You are reading too much into the marks . I checked there is definately no contact.

You should also inform Modking that his hydraulic clutch doesn't work on a ZX6R front sprocket with 520 chain/sprockets

Modking's hydraulic clutch is in the way of the chain. I am going to need to go back to clutch cables unless one of you guys has an idea. Also I am not even sure what it looked like with clutch cables... But my GSXR front end has cable stuff so I rather switchback anyway.

Mawler surely the plate with hydraulics can be spaced out (washers initially to get correct size ) but frankly that lock nut on your fr. sprocket does not look like it has sufficient threads engaged.
Back when I was an apprentice (To F'ing long ago to go with total recall I seem to remember that nuts should engage the thread with 4 full turns showing clear even on aeronuts/ nylocks etc.

Me i would be looking at a source of thread lock solution if not a tack weld

Slapped it back on the bike. The push lever assembly just needed to be re-greased it works great now. God damn are the springs ever stiff though stupid barnet springs. Oh well I will get used to it. That's the nice thing about hydraulic I guess is that you don't really notice the stiffness.





So ya it's isn't really binded. I blame the lack of grease in the push lever assembly. Oh well. Alls well that ends well.

It's safety wired Georgy! I should add some locktight later. But I put it on there with an impact wrench, and then safety wired it tight.
