92 FZR Voltage Regulator Question

When I bought my 1992 Yamaha FZR 600, the bike was a frankenstein wiring mess. Just recently the bike was put back together, but the owner took out the connectors from the strator and the battery and I was wanting to know whats the wiring order for the 4-pin connector on the voltage regulator. If anyone has pictures or can tell me that would be awesome! Thanks

I couldn't tell from either pic. I'm kind of a noob when it comes to electrical stuff. What I'm looking for is which pin on the 4 pin connector of the regulator is the positive?

4 Pin? the regulators I have seen are 3pin along the bottom of the plug for the input from the stator coil;s plus either 2 or 3 pins along the top
Top left being red top right going to frame / black !the middle pin is not used !

This is the one I have...there are four pins on it. Unless I'm calling it the wrong thing...

The best VR for the FZR is the R6 version off Ebay at far less money LOTS of heat sink & fins

After doing a little research now, I see that the R6 VR is much better, but I already ordered this one and its in my hands...I just need to figure out which pin is positive and which are the ones that connect to the strator...

Just dug this out, Red connects to bottom left (looking at the pins) there should be a 30 amp fuse fitted on the Red wire leading to the battery (Main Fuse), the 3 White wires go to the stator, connect in any order. Make sure you get good connections on the white wires, they carry in the region of 60v AC so you don't want any sparking (
FIRE HAZARD) use wire heavy enough to handle the amps.

Thanks a lot man! By bottom left do you mean while it is laying flat?

laying flat then it would be bottom right. I meant as it fixes to the rear subframe then it's bottom left.

Ok, so I wired this as you told me and as of right now, the 20A fuse keeps popping (the main fuse). A 20A was in the main fuse holder...does it need to be a 30A or do you think a problem lies else where?

The photo's show the one i removed from my 92 3HE (i did the R6 VR mod) so the wiring should be correct, when does the fuse blow when you connect the VR? or when the bike starts? mine had a 30 amp fuse fitted and it says in the manual it's 30 amp. Double check your wiring. The body of the VR should be mounted/grounded, there's also a negative Black wire that should be fitted to 1 of the mounting screws/bolts.
With the VR laying flat (black rubber facing up) the pins on mine where
White White
White Red

The ground is connected by one of the mounting bolts...the fuse blows soon as the battery is connected

It's defiantly the main fuse? located close to the blinker/flasher relay left hand side. not 1 in the accessory fuse block right hand side.
