Blew a bulb? High Beams work.

I accidently let a power wire touch the forks and it blew the main fuse. Replaced the fuse and now only one headlight works on low beam. When I switch to high of course the high beams come on. Both lights are supposed to be on at low beam right? Can those bulbs be bought at a regular auto parts store or do I have to go to the cycle store?

Got mine at napa store. Dont remember what year you have. Part number on a 95 600 is BP1260/H4. Dont take the fairing off there is a cap that prys off easily, take plug off the light bulb, take rubber boot off, then grab a flat screwdriver and push on the double ring lock piece the opposite way of the "LOCK" arrow. Replace everything without touching the glass bulb. Check plug for corrosion and use dielectric grease.

Ride...

BTW mine have 3 prongs. Keep your old for spares in case the VR blows one out.

K thanks. I have a 1998. You say keep the spares but if it's blown why should I keep it? Only the high beam works.

Yeah, I'm a pack rat though. If the VR ever kills both headlights though and you need one to limp at night(I don't know why you would be riding if you VR is on the fritz) it would be better to have 1 high beam than no lights at all. Plus I keep them incase for some reason none of my lights work and I can take a bulb out and put one of my spares in to see if it's the bulb or the wiring. You should see my junk drawer haha.

Chris.

Ps let me know if you can't find one and I'll get one for you down here and I'll mail it to you. Shipping to STL is one day from me and less that 4 dollars.

I think you will find that they are 3 prong H4'S,
under the rubber boot at the back of the bulbs (no need to remove fairing) there is a spring clip you need to depress and lift up on mine, to get the bulbs out.
