I posted this on the Archives as well.

Has anybody weighed the front wheel without the tire? I've made a litte chart showing the weights of the various wheels and need this measurement to fill in the gap.

FYI:

FZR400 Front (17 x 3.0) = 10.5 lbs (wheel) + 6.44 lbs (Rotors)

FZR600 front rotors = 7.26 lbs

FZR600 rear wheel (18 x 4.0)(with cush drive, sprocket carrier (no sprocket) and brake disk) = 22.35 lbs

FZR400 rear wheel (18 x 4.0) (with cush drive, sprocket carrier (no sprocket) and brake disk) = 19.32 lbs

TZR250 rear wheel (17 x 4.5) (with cush drive, sprocket carrier (no sprocket) and brake disk) = 14.65 lbs

96-99 SRAD Swingarm with shock linkage, axel, pivot bolt, brake caliper, and caliper arm weighs exactly 10kg or 22lbs

The 03 GSXR600 rear wheel 5.5"X17 with a dunlop tire, cush, sprocket and rotor on there wieghs 14.8kg or 32.5lbs

05 GSXR600 front end with calipers, damper, controls, Everything on the front end except wheel is 15.6kg or 34.3lbs

I don't have the front wheel yet but will post when I do.

I am just posting this up cuz I am doing the swap so people know what weight they are losing/gaining by doing swaps.

I just modded my original post to add the weight of the stock FZR600 rear wheel. That's a 3 lb savings between the 400 and 600 rear wheels.

TZ250 rear wheel with cush tire and sprocket is 31.24lbs

What size rim? If it is the same size as the TZR rim I listed then your rear tire is heavy. The TZR rear with a BT016 160/60/17 weighs 28.30 lbs. If you are running an aluminum rear sprocket is probalby weighs 13-15 oz so that means your tire is 2 lbs heavier since I doubt it is the rim that is heavier.

TZ250 31.24 - .94 (sprocket) = 30.30
TZR250 = 28.30

06 gsxr1000 front wheel with bridgestone slick and stock rotors on there is 11.2kg or 24.6lbs

06 R6 subframe 1.8kg or 3.97 lbs (the 08 R6 subframe is 450g lighter or roughly 1lb)

Fox shock 3.6kg or 7.92 lbs

And yes I meant TZR250. To be quite honest I didn't even know the difference.

TZ was pure race TZR is a road version

Great stuff keep it coming what about the stock stuff you are taking off the FZR?

You list a 400 with 18" 4.5 rim what Model as my 400 wheel is 17" (from memory)

I am assuming the 1WG with the 18"X4.5

I don't have the stock shock so somebody else will have to throw that on a scale. I am just waiting on a bearing to arrive from the US to put my GSXR front end on then I'll weigh the FZR front end and wheel with tire.

Stock FZR400 IWG subframe with undertray, tail light, no battery box, and foto pegs is 8.4kg or 18.5lbs

The shock mount (spot welded to subframe) is only 2.2lbs and made of steel (like the subframe).
