Transmission noise.

Now, I'm just posting this because I couldn't find anything that was along the same lines as what I'm experiencing. I'm not entirely sure the noise is in fact coming from the transmission, it just sounds like it is. I've noticed that when I'm in a certain RPM range (around 4.5k-7k, give or take) there is a rattling sound that seems to be coming from the transmission. The transmission shifts just find. I have the occasional instance when at a stop it doesn't want to shift down from 2nd, but that's easily fixed by rocking the bike front to back. There isn't any clutch slipping. As far as operationally speaking, the transmission works fine. I'm just curious if anyone else has heard of or experienced the same thing. But like I said, it may not even be coming from the transmission. It could be something like the headlight or the tank fairing rattling due to the harmonics of the engine within the particular RPM range.

Isn't that the famous 2nd gear problem? Never experienced it myself, but have heard about it....

Anyone with experience in that issue wanna chime in?

That's how the 2nd gear problem starts

you can replace the 2nd gear -not too expensive (couple hundred) and many write ups are online here

or

start looking for a yzf 600 engine for the swap which in my opinion is the better of the 2 options and if you find one cheap enough the better deal (around 500)
