Does anyone have any experience with using a 06-07 voltage regulator in-place of the 95+ fzr reg? From the wiring diagrams i'v looked over, both use the same pin-out setup: three ac on the bottom row then a positive and ground on the top rows.

Just want to verify that the voltages are the same.

Won't know why not they are just a devise to dissapate heat. Although the '95 style maybe easier to fit fully insulated spade connectors to than the '06-'07. It looks like they beefed up the cooling fins and changed the wire harness mount on the '06-'07 is all from the '95.

I read somewhere the the top center pin on the 06+ was a dead pin. Don't know how much truth there is to that though.

yes the top center is a dead pin according to the 07 service manual.


My question is will they regulate voltage the same?

Simple answer is YES and the proof is http://www.saltmine.org.uk/fzr/vr.html

Confirmed. wired it up today and took it for a 30 mile ride. Recharged the battery fine.
