bike not starting

I know theres a bunch of topics on this but I just wanted to start my own to see what you guys think
I havent started the bike since last season and I didnt do any winterization on it cause I just kinda forgot about it. Last season it started up everytime with no problem and ran perfect
So I went to go start it the other day and of course it didnt start. First thing I did was change the battery and try again. It turned over fine but still didnt start. So I went ahead and checked for spark. It had spark but it was yellow instead of blue so I went ahead and put new plugs in it and now its sparking blue. Tried it again and still didnt start. So after that I cleaned the carbs and changed the fuel filter to make sure fuel was pumping(my fuel pump works, I turned it on without it hooked to the carbs and saw it come out). After all this I tried it again and still nothing. I tried spraying starting fluid down the cylinders to try and get them to fire but it still wouldnt work.
I thought it still might be something with the spark so I checked the ignition rotor to make sure nothing happened in there, and I noticed the part that detects when to spark was kinda worn away. It looks like detector is supposed to be raised up and mine was completely flat. It looks as though the rotor had been rubbing on the detector, If anyone has a picture of what its supposed to look like that would be great.
Also could the bike need the valves adjusted? Its got 17k miles on it and I dont know if the guy before me has ever done it. I dont ride the bike hard, just cruise on it usually.
I also have not done a compression check on it cause I need a 12mm adapter for my compression tester. Does Autozone or Pepboys rent them out or sell the little 12 mm adapters?
