FZ1 shock
So I realize that if you get the FZ1 rear shock and throw a FZR spring on it, it is good. But what are the advantages, exactly? I want to make sure it is worth my time, I know just get an aftermarket shock, well im being cheap right now as I just bought those plastics from kingcobra.

Well, the FZ1 has more adjustments that can be made to suit the riders needs in comparing to the FZR. You can get similar results with a properly setup hayabusa shock as well. Given the cost of an FZ shock from ebay or similar source and having it rebuilt with the FZR, or an equivalent rated, spring compared to a Penske Triple Clicker, Progressive 420, or even a rebuilt Fox Twin Clicker you'll be spending MUCH MUCH less. I've heard of this setup being done and in the bike for less than 100 bucks whereas the range of the other brands I mentioned could start at 200 or more.

Head on over to an FZ1 forum to find one for really cheap. I think I paid around $90 for mine a couple of years ago. I hear the '08 R6 shock is a better choice. All you really need for that setup is a set up dogbones. I think I've seen a shock and dogbones sold as a set for the FZR on ebay several times.
The main problem with the FZ1 shock is that the rear brake torsion arm gets in the way of the charge canister. You can flip the shock around so that the canister is facing the front of the bike. The problem with that option is that the settings are harder to get to to adjust and the chain rubs against the canister. I don't find that to be much of a problem because the chain is steel and the housing is aluminum.
