Ok , is this normal?
My temperature will rise to about 3/4 andsometimes near the H but never getting there. This is only in traffic jams, standing traffic. I can ride around all day and as long as the bike is moving, it doesnt even reach half. Is this normal? Checked and coolant is topped off and fan does turn on when its at 3/4 temp maybe a bit higher. This is riding on a 70 degree day.
When its moving its good. Any tips greatly appreciated.

There is something in the wiki about a manual fan switch that you mige want to invest in. I have never gotten the bike above 3/4 even when syncing the carbs in the 90 deg garage. Someone else might be able to tell you if it's the thermostat.

Hi,
as I said in a thread where the guy coated his rad FZR's are finnicky about temp they will cruise whole day in mid -low range on the guage 2mins in a jam and they climb quickly.
When it happens just check your fan is on the sensor has been known to fail & guys in hot places wire them on manually.

Weird texas weather, its high 60s one day and low 50s the next with wind and rain and the next day in the 70s..

To be blunt, the FZR radiator is not adequate for extreme temps or when sitting still. When working on your bike in the garage, even newer bikes, have a heavy duty fan there to blow air through the radiator to keep it cool.
In the summer, use something like "Water Wetter" that will keep the bike running cooler than regular anti-freeze.
