Bike isnt firing..again!

Hi everyone. Once again i cant get my bike to run right. I just cleaned the carbs and changed the spark plugs a month ago and for some reason the bike seemed to run rough the first few minutes it was started. It would rev higher than usual and backfire some until it was really warmed up but then it ran fine so i didn't worry too much over it. Then i let it sit for a day, came back to start it and it just turned over without firing. It will sputter just a little bit and backfires quite a bit but it wont start up. I have been trying to figure it out for a while and now my battery is drained. I pulled the spark plugs and they are black and wet with gas. Three of them look like they have some oil on them but they have only been used for under 100 miles so i just don't see them being fouled already unless i have a more serious problem on my hands. Does this sounds like a problem with the carbs being out of sync? It did sit out in the rain for a week or two so are there any problems that could have been caused by this? Possibly bad gas or water in the system somewhere? Maybe the plugs got wet and ruined? My air filter is little bit dirty but not too bad. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sounds like youre running way rich. And if the plugs are fouled in 100 miles, there's definately an issue. Clean the plugs really well with a wire brush and some carb cleaner. But you are way off somewhere in your carbs' jetting more than likely.
What type of mods do you have? jetting? when you took your carbs apart to clean them did you pull the jets? Did you get your starter jets and mains mixed up? If the problem just started after cleaning them, then Id recheck your work and make sure everything is where its supposed to be.

if the plugs are all black id say your to rich as well. are your plug wires all cracked grounding out might not be getting every spark leaving un burned fuel more than likely your to rich though

Yeah i cleaned the plugs off but i haven't had much time to do anything other than that. I don't have any mods done mechanically and when i cleaned the carbs i cleaned the jets but i was extra careful not to mix them up..but i guess its a possibility that i did. I didn't mess with the diaphragms or needles though. I'm going to pull the carbs and check everything out in the next couple days. Do you think that just playing with the idle screw would get me any results? I know that they haven't been synched in at least 4 years if ever so that really needs to be done too but i don't know much about synching except for the fact that i have to get it running first. Thanks for your advice

This is actually a possibility..My number 4 wire broke in half when i changed the plugs about a month ago but i tried to hook it back up. Would this cause a problem? How would i be able to check my wires to see if they are the issue? Thanks

If you take the plug out of the valve and sit it on the block or the frame or valve, and you see spark then the wire is probably good. When you say the wire broke in half do you mean the wire or the actual boot. The reason I ask is cause I bought new boots cause I could and they were VERY cheap. If it was your wires then the cost will go up a pretty good ways. But even if you have 1 cylinder not firing the bike should run. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though.
Chris.

well youd have to check each cylinder for spark and when its dark you can see the wire arching to the engine. id clean up the plugs and if it starts and the wires are good then look at you air/fuel ratio. do you get any blue smoke when its running or burning oil
