valve head swap

I just did my last valve clearance adjustment on my bike without a major change-up. ie: valve replacement, or head replacement. Replacing the valves on my bike would be about $30 per valve x 16 = $480, not including a shit ton of work. SOOO, I'm heavily leaning toward just replacing the head. My question is this, do I have to go with a FZR600 head, or is there another that will bolt on? Thanks!

While the YZF600 head will bolt on, ou are better of not using because the deck design and water ports are slightly different. The 400 head should bolt on as well, but is hard to come by and most have been used for racing. I would just stick with the FZR600 head. I'm in the same boat with another engine I have. Need to replace the head because I don't want the expense and hassle of a rebuild.

Exactly what issues would i face if I put a yzf head on my fzr? I've been looking at pics of both, side by side, and I'm just not seeing any difference. Thanks

I don't recall ever hearing of anybody doing it. Would the FZR600 cams fit the YZF600 head?

Whenever I broke an exhaust cam a while back I looked into it, and everything I found said that the FZR400, FZR600, and YZF600 all had interchangeable camshafts, and I can't tell any difference in the three just looking at them (I wound up with one of each attempting to replace said cam). I'm sure they have different cam profiles, as they have different air/fuel demands and different RPM ranges, though I heard somewhere that the best setup is to run FZR600 intake cams for both the intake and exhaust valves, as the intake cam has a slightly more aggressive cam profile and it helps the head flow a little better (I haven't confirmed this, though, but feel free to expirement).

I have heard about using FZR600 cams in an FZR400 because the FZR600 cams are very close in profile etc. to FZR400 kit cams. I don't know if that's both cams or what.

Ok. So I found a FZR head with 17000 miles on it. Picked it up for $60 plus shipping. It doesn't come with cams though. Will there be any issues using the ones I have now? And do you think there would be any issues re-using the head gasket? Keep in mind it was put on about 3000 miles ago. Thanks for the input!
