YZF Swingarm / R6 Wheel?
Heard that you can pair a YZF Swingarm with an R6 Rear wheel - true?
If true, what do I need to accomplish this (besides the obvious)?

Re: YZF Swingarm / R6 Wheel?
yes you can do it. i have all the parts to do it and i am selling them. r6 rim has it hub offset so the rear rotors and caliper sit inside the wheel, unlike the yzf which sticks out of the wheel. also the yzf600r swingarm is hellish wider then the r6. you need to make spacers and you can run a 180.
i have all the parts forsale like i said if you need them...i want them gone.

Does the YZF 600 (Years ?) swing arm bolt right in ? I know on Mike's board I could look this up but we have no access hence the question for the populace.

Re: YZF Swingarm / R6 Wheel?
yzf600r swingarm from 95-07 are 100% the same. the yzf600 swingarm has to be machines down to 8.47" with out the dust caps. once you do that and add the dust caps it bolt in.
you use the fzr600 swingarm pivot bolt and nut...its the same as the yzf.
the rear you need spacers machined to center up the wheel.
again i have heva ll the parts for the swap fosale, they are all near perfect because thats how i roll.

Re: YZF Swingarm / R6 Wheel?
Why would you run the R6 wheel with the YZF swingarm? The YZF wheel matchs the FZR wheel pattern (R6 doesn't), fits the YZF swingarm with no mods, and will hold a 170 comfortably (more tire than a FZR needs) or a 180 if you have to have it. Unless you just happen to be sitting on the parts, I think it would be much easier and a smoother fit to use the complete YZF setup.

They're already phasing out most of the 18" tires and down the road, they'll probably do the same with the 160 and 170s on a 17" rim.
It was more curiousity than anything. I already have the complete YZF set-up at the house. Just need a new rear sprocket.

Re: YZF Swingarm / R6 Wheel?
you do it for future...or in my case i hate the fzr/yzf style rims. if you are doing a full custom bike a skiny 160 looks like poo.
its really not a hard mod...its way lighter then the yzf parts anyway and you gain better parts.

Sorry to hassle you but if you narrow the swing arm pivot down to 8.47" does that mean you have to machine the bearing pockets down a bit deeper ?
I would take you up on the sale but that pond is getting tougher to cross financially postage wise swear
I found this on Fleabay:-
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Yamaha-YZF600-5EB ... m153.l1262
BUT I noticed the rear shock looks like this :-

which adds another question :-
how does the shock bolt on OR did you use the FZR type with a fork end ?

Yes. You will have to set the bearing pockets down another 3/8" or so.yamaha_george wrote: Sorry to hassle you but if you narrow the swing arm pivot down to 8.47" does that mean you have to machine the bearing pockets down a bit deeper ?

Re: YZF Swingarm / R6 Wheel?
its cool. i do want the stuff gone...hopefully once we get more members they will see these yzf swingarms are very sought after and will buy mine.
since the yzf600 was disconued in 07 i have not near as many parts for them forsale on ebay...i bet most yzf riders are stocking up on them.
