No power

The bike ran fine on Tuesday when my buddy took it out for some mountain riding. He said he had no problems turning it off and turning it on. I went out yesterday morning to ride to work and there was no power available when I turned the ignition switch to on. No lights, nothing. I thought it might be the battery because it was pretty weak on Monday, but when I connected the jumper cables to my car there was still no power, no lights, nothing. The fuses were fine as far as I could see, but I went ahead and replaced the ignition fuse with the spare and still no power.
How often do the ignition switches go bad on our bikes? If I buy a replacement switch who do I bring it to to get it keyed for my original key?
Thanks

Hi,
please put your location in your personal profile so we know what model you are talking about, the year would be useful too.
This list goes world wide & models vary.
As to your question :-
Charge the battery over night the FZR is very voltage finnicky.
Did you ride thro rain has it snowed on the bike ?
Do you have & know how to use a voltmeter ?

Location updated
I'll try charging it overnight
It rarely ever rains here and never snows, but there's always condensation all over the bike from it sitting out during the night.
I do have a voltmeter and I know how to use it, I plan on checking the battery when I get home tonight.

Charged the battery last night with my other bike and checked the voltage at 15-20 minute intervals
5:00pm Before charge ~8.0V
5:20pm ~10.8V
5:40pm ~11.0V
6:00pm ~11.0V
At this point I stopped charging it, waited a few minutes and checked the voltage again and it read ~10.8V
At each interval I checked the voltage without the key in the ignition and then checked it again with the key in the ignition and switched to the ON position. There was no change in voltage at all.

sounds like your battery has some problems but if you put your car batery on with jumper cables than you should have gotten a result were the cables connected well. the run switch on the bar isnt off sometimes i forget about it and find its off cause i never use it. did you get anything after charging it. most locksmiths can help you with your key too

No, still no power after I charged it. No lights, nothing. Even when I had the other bike charging it at ~13.2V there was still no power: the lights didn't turn on, the gauges didn't light up, and the starter button didn't do shit.

Rick,
you are just wasting time trying to get a very dead battery to life with another bike or even jumpering it with the car's battery.
Put the battery on a proper charger after checking the beast has full liquids not one dry cell or some such.

I charged the battery on a trickle charger last night.
~12.9V after I removed it from the charger this morning
~12.7V 5 minutes later
~12.6V 10 minutes later
I hooked it up to the bike
~12.5V ignition off
~12.5V ignition on
NO lights, no power, nothing
Then I replaced all the fuses
Same result, no lights, no power, nothing
~12.5V ignition off
~12.5V ignition on

have you checked your ground connection use the meter to check for power to the key switch in the off and on position and check for a change if you get the wireing diagram it would be easier to trace the problem. you did check the main fuse right i think its like a 30 amp or so. make sure you have power to the key switch before you try to change it check for battery voltage at the red wire on the key switch if there is none it should be the main fuse if there is turn the key on and check the other wires if you have voltage on them then check the ground if not the switch is bad. there is a wiring diagram in the wiki under your bike specific

As H says there is more than one set of fuses ie outside of the fuse box , and the wiring diagram is in the WIKI>
from here on in it is patient & methodical work with the meter, remember just because you see voltage at the source on a wire does not mean it is getting to the other end of that same wire.
