Coil conversion help
Hey guys I finally made to switch over to here and the coil conversion
. Here is my issue. I did a little research and found the coil from the escort zx2 on several other vehicles. I did the conversion but I think I have the firing order wrong. And I am a little curioous about the ground. The escort coil has a resistor and a ground on one of the four screws that bolt it to its bracket. Is it needed for the fzr? Or should I just ground it to the frame like the old coil was? I am not going to mount the new coil where the old one was I am going to put it under the back seat and make some longer wires.

Re: Coil conversion help
The resistor has no use for you. I just clipped mine off and tossed it. As for ground, when I was installing mine, I wanted to make sure everything was working appropriately before I mounted the coil, it was basically swinging free in the breeze. It does still work. The ground comes from the spark plugs in the block. Hope this helps. I had considered mounting my coil under the rear seat, but decided against it, didn't want the issue of long wires rubbing in unseen spots. I suppose you could always wrap them in abrasion tape, but that just adds more bulk to an already annoying task! Good luck! Let me know what you did!

Re: Coil conversion help
Hi Guys,
I notice neither of you have put your location in your profile so we have no idea as to wether any of us are near you to be of help if you need ahand with any thing OR when you getting it working to ride out with you.
The coils fire 1 & 4, 2 & 3 as the FZR uses wasted spark ignition system.
As for using such long HT leads that could prove problematic in the long term with broken wires & abrasion / cracking and arc out near some very delicate electronics that are not shielded.
Just my 2cents
