Water Issues?
I ended up getting caught in a torrential downpour on the way home the other day. The bike was running fine, but as I started to get close to my house I noticed some power surges and eventually the bike started running like shit- it felt and seemed like carb issues. I drained the tank and put in fresh gas and cleaned the carbs, but the bike is still running poorly. I am stumped- the bike was running fine before I got caught in that heavy rain. What is the deal? Anybody have any ideas what could be going on here? This is keeping me from getting home for the holidays at this point.
Thanks
Thanks

I'm from Tallahassee Florida. I picked up an fzr a few months ago and have lurked a bit on here, but I'm just stumped by this bike. I put new plugs in too, but it didn't make much of a difference. It feels like a carb issue, but the damn things are spotless on the inside.

Hi i´m from Sweden, North Europe.
Your membrans in the carbs are fine?
Gasoline pump function all rpm way?
Does it reload properly, the battery?
Check Battery?

I doubt this to be a carb problem since you rode thro heavy rain when it started bucking, The air intake system is darn near waterproof being under aplasic tank cover and the inlet facing the rear. Water in the gas equally unlikely unless you picked it uop at the pump from agas station with a near empty tank.
I would be looking at the HT leads being damp / wet and destroying your spark.
If you can park it in the dark & run the bike any dampness will cause an arc to ground / engine that you MIGHT be able to see.
Try using a water disperser oil like WD40 on the leads and see if the problem goes away.
