I have a fzr600 3HE bike which requires a road exhaust, On Ebay there are quite a few YZF 600 R6 exhausts at good prices, will these fit the FZR

Don't buy the YZF600 header if you plan on doing the mod mentioned in the link above. YZF600 and the YZFR6 are different bikes, the link that FasterThanUr posted talked about the R6 header. It has to be stretched a few inches as the link says

The YZF600 header doesn't need to be stretched between the exhaust runners 2 and 3, it slips into the head easily since the bikes both have the same engines, it also has the same runner diameter as the R6 header, but it isn't stainless steel like the R6 header is.

With the YZF600 header you will have to bend the muffler end of the header to where it's closer to the ground, otherwise it can be forced-fit, BUT the tip of the header touches the rider foot peg. If you bend it down (nearly impossible while on the bike) it clears fine.

R6 header also gives you more ground clearance than the YZF600 header. R6 header is probably easier to bend and you have more ground clearance, and it is stainless steel so it won't rust, but you would have to weld in order for it to be stretched, unless you want exhaust leaks on runners 2 and 3.

YZF600 header doesn't involve welding, it's coated black from the factory to prevent rust, but doesn't prevent rust as well as the stainless header. If you have a buddy at an exhaust shop, they might be able to heat up the header a bit to bend the tip down an inch so it doesn't touch your foot peg.

I acually have two YZF600 headers, I'm going to try to turn the other one over and stand on the bottom side to see if my weight is enough to bend it as far as it needs to be. I also have the R6 header if you would be interested in that, I'm on the fence about putting it on my bike, let me know if you still need one, I'll sell either one.

So to sum everything up.
Both are the same diameter, and are a hair larger than the stock FZR header, and both also have the more efficient 4-2-1 design( FZR is 4-1)
Both need bending, YZF600 just doesn't need to be stretched from left to right, only bent down
R6 header needs welding, YZF600 header does not need welding, only bending
R6 header is stainless and won't rust, YZF600 header is coated black and will rust if the coating comes off
R6 header has more ground clearance than the YZF600 header, YZF600 clearance is ok

Mine has a 4-2-1 stainless aftermarket Thundercat front pipe, which I believe my colonial cousins also call a 'YZF'. It sits awfully close to the bottom of the engine, but clears it...just. Also the rear mount (the one that attaches to the shock linkage mount) doesn't line up, necessitating a small bracket be made. I then mated it all up to a stainless oval early R6 silencer via a 'cat link pipe, and its spot on.

Poor old George had a semi (us English types call it a 'lob', or a 'lazy lob') in my garage when he spotted the silencer in my box of bits ready to be refitted

Been looking at all the different bikes in Georges saltmine links and"standard"looks like one of his least favorite words.

You should see his FZR in the flesh Yamster - if there's a more tastefully or more sensibly modified 600 out there, I've yet to see it. I had a serious blue veiner when he brought it round my gaff. He's set the bar high for the rest of us.

you forget I have 50 years this year of bike fettling so I hope i learned a thing or two along the way.

As for the BMF (british motorcycle federation ?) show this year I do not care if you walk /rollerskate / blade / cycle / ride / drive a cage / come by train / coach / bus OR in FB's case " Marmalade stripe "

JUST BE THERE. this is not " is his bigger than mine" do this a BIKERS MEET for the guy in the UK & hopefully one or two from Europe who ride FZR's.

That said I hope we do have a group of bikes for Pics we can all pop over to FB's so his in the pic too cause I aint letting i'm off his bike being finished by then !!!!
