FZR750 front Forks

Hi everyone,

I still have my 600/400 race bike (now fitted with the R6 shock), but have also acquired an '89 1wg 400 that is again a race bike (just needs finishng). I also got an '88/89 FZR750 rolling chassis recently - a 2LM? (missing the subframe, one brake caliper, one clip on and one disk is bent - but it was cheap - the motor, carbs etc may be available soon too). Is there any benefit in trying to fit the 750 forks into either of the other bikes - I have taken a few measurements and there are minor differences (not insurmountable though) just wondered if anyone had done this before. There is another 600/400 project that is tempting me but has no triple clamps or wheels - my other thought was to use the 750 items. Is this a good thought or just the ramblings of some dumbass who shouldnt even be in the square let alone tryin to think outside it.

Thanks for the interest - I must try to visit more often :duh:

Probably no benefit at all and the steering stem would need to be swapped to work. Plus the parts are old as hell and would require a good rebuild before use. A set of 99-02 R6 forks will slide directly into the triples from a 3TJ though. And they would then bolt directly up to the frame.

Nice thought about the R6 forks but I am restricted to age related parts to qualify for the class I race in....looks like it will be a clean up of the bits and then sell on - might be able to afford some better internals for what I have. Thanks for the advice.

There is a set of FZR600 forks on eBay now with Ohlins internals for $260 BIN but have no clue as to shipping cost. But a good suspension should be able to set up a set of forks for you bike with springs and emulators for about the same cost.

CAD spot on with the internals swap a set of linear springs & YSS pd valves (emulators ) would be about the same money all you have to do is get racetech to take the order process it and get it to you (that is joined up thinking for them and seems to strain their brain)
