B,
OK you just re-jetted and now you have one cylinder running super rich (very black & sooty) I would take that float bowl off and check that the jet has not fallen off (very common after a re-jet by some one not too experienced) The other possibility is that the check valve in that carb is not seated completely.
As for carb Synching you cannot think they are, you have to know that you rebuilt the carbs and then run the synching tool on all 4 carbs ( there are several threads in the site history on doing this with bought & HOMEMADE tools, since like most going to school are usually short on folding stuff) (been there done that :-{{{

I didnt pull the carbs apart so i dont know why i would have to sync them i thought that was just when u pull the 4 pieces apart? i just put the jets and other things that came with the kit in.

This is the very reason to synch them. You changed the jets (probably going to bigger if you put in a kit) so you have changed how they operate, and thus, changed the "balance" that was there before.

Im'a throw this out there:
One of the jets in that carb (#1 cylinder) dropped out and is now laying in the float bowl.
The mix is completely unrestricted...hence, VERY RICH.....fouls plug in minutes.

B,
Do not beat your self up about it, we have all started at the beginning and learned by our mistakes (well in my case most of the time :-}
I am sure RR will delivery a very good lecture on the optimum air /fuel ratio for "that" temp & atmospheric pressure.
Suffice it to say from me that by balancing the air flow (synching) to each carb we trust we are optimising the balance of air / fuel across the 4 carbs.
How ever this is just an average setting that appears to work best, what most people do not realise is that the number on the jet is just a batch number ie it can flow as much as 5% either side of some pre-set figure.
