Fried the voltage regulator perhaps?? It was sitting in the sun all morning, and its hot here today, 95+.. Anyone have any ideas??

Did you check all the fuses?

Dumb question, did you check the ignition fuse located near the VR?

The fuse to the VR was fried! had a spare 20 Amp put it in and presto! bike fired up for now.. Now why did the 25 Amp fry in the first place? broken ground somewhere? So I'll ride home for lunch and "see what happens" RRBike

Thanks for the help guys!

Hi,
I would check the voltage to the battery with the engine running at idle then rev it some, my guess is that it will go high and that the VR is overheating in the +95 and running temp
Hope I am wrong

Agreed I'll also bet you still have the stock VR? I'd say do the upgrade. I recently did it to my FZR because when i made an effort to actually check the voltage going to the battery i was getting almost 30 volts.

So I did make it a couple of miles down the road. Then it popped again. Stranded, hot and pissed off, I decided to disconnect the headlight (just for kicks), and borrow the fan fuse (10Amp) and see if I could make it to Autozone and grab a few fuses to get me home. From there to Autozone no problem. Replaced the fuses. (put some spares in the fuse box) and made it home with no issue. SO I'm inclined to think that is the VR overheating, as suggested. So I parked the bike in the shade, and this evening I'm going to plug the Headlight back in and go for a short ride "and see what happens". Meanwhile I'm going to look up the threads on VR replacement. Seems like the OEM VR on the Fizzer is a weak point from what I've read.

It's pretty easy to diagnose: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=157

Be careful your playing with fire pushing a hot VR. You could easily fry your cdi even with the inline fuse in place. It just happened to me.

Mine was doing that when I first had it. It left me stranded with burned fuses, lights, wires...ect. I would say DON'T ride it until swap that VR, or do a thorough test on it. A burned VR can make a huge mess.
