Another part question while bike is apart..

So reelrazor helped me with the breather tube to the crank case. I searched on bikebandit before I left for work but I didn't find my answer. In this picture is that the starter with the "plug boot" looking wire coming out of it in the middle of the picture? and secondly what is the metal part that is directly left of the plug, with the bolt on top? It stickes out a little over an inch from the block, it's inbetween the fuel hose and the black hose in this picture.
and while I have your attention, when I go to sync my carbs I have to gravity feed from the tank to the carbs. I've searched all over my note and the wiki, but to no avail. (might have read it in the archives) The petcock and the fuel pump/filter are connected to the bottom of the tank, now I know I have to unhook those to put the tank on the seat or wherever I choose, but FROM which one should I run the hose back to the carbs so the gravity feed will work? Does that even make since?
Thanks,
Chris.

I think I just spotted some random washers to the right of what I think is the starter.

Chris ,
you guess was right the black booted wired object is the starter,
The random washers I would use a magnet to remove & KEEP just in case.
The long bolt with the two allen heads either side look s like the timing chain tensioner adjuster that Yamaha use on just about every yam four stroke
when I did my carbs I used a very long hose between fuel cell (tank to you) & the fuel pump as I like REAL world testing not something that may add a variable of error into the job mix.
Since the fuel cell is big and cumbersome (unless you have a mate round for beers ) you could use a gadget like this

Ok good to know. I didn't want to unhook both of the hoses if I didn't need to. I think I can get the tank over far enough to set it on the table next to my bike. The little lady isn't too keen on holding the tank for me while I do all this. I just have to run to the auto store to buy some length of fuel hose. Thanks for the help George.

I believe that is your right as a patient, to be able to harrass the nurses. It's in the code somewhere I'm sure.
Chris.
