I think my fzr has a cholesterol problem
So I finally started to sync my carbs (I know way to late) and the hose that runs from the air box to the top of the.... tranny? Forgot now. Has some weird white substance in it. Any ideas, or maybe just some grease someone used to get the hose on to the airbox easier? Sorry about the up close pics with my crappy phone camera.

That's the crankcase breather hose.
The 'weird white substance' is water vapor/condensation mixed with oil. It's fairly normal as condensation builds up in teh crankcase and gets vented up the breather hose.
It generally means that the oil is due-ish for a change and/or that you aren't running the engine long enough (at a time) to evaporate the condensate. A good hot run will usually burn the majority off.
If it is persistent and very thick it may indicate you have a head gasket leak-this is usually accompanied by white-ish oil and oily coolant

Ah, this all makes since. I run about 20 mins a day to work and then a return trip. all at 55 mph plus. But I am at 1800 miles since I changed the oil and was planning on doin that after I synced the carbs. Thanks for the help, RR.

I side with RR do your Carbs, ( buy the oil & oil filter so it is to hand when you get back,) once that is sorted go for along run some place where you can run the bike for a couple of hours (since we are going into cold times) when you get back check for the "gunge" check your oil & coolant.
If they show signs of contamination change both out.
BE CAREFULL do the coolant after the oil so it will not shower you in very hot coolant !

Sorry George I got a little confused about what you ment. Change the oil THEN take it for a 2 hour ride and check the coolant and hose for gunk. Or ride it 2 hours and check the stuff. Also this is the first time the bike has probably ever had sea foam put into it. Think that could cause this? I don't recall seeing this junk when I took the breather off before. Thanks.

buy the oil & filter put them aside.
Ride the bike for couple of hours plenty of gear changing & a few long roads at decent speeds, back through town traffic would be ideal to raise the heat.
as soon as you get back do your inspection for the muck & see if the oil is contaminated it would look milky and change the oil if required , since the oil is hot do the filter too.
Once that is done check the coolant which should be cool after all this see if it has an oily film on it when you open the filler. BE careful if it has any pressure in the system you can get a nasty suprise .
If the water is oily flush the system and yamaha recommend 50% distilled water and 50% anti-freeze MAKE sure it is the type to be used in alloy engines some are corrosive & will stuff your engine.
I use 100% "engine ice" in my system for quite awhile and they do run cool & no hassles with worrying about if the water is pure enough.
