what kind of header is this?

Post by match417 »

This is a 96 bike, but the header looks completely different than the header that was on my 91 FZR.

no, it's 4 into 1, are all the FZR600 headers the same through all the years? I'll take a better picture of it when I take the side fairings off.

That's a stock 49 state 600 header. As far as I know they were the same for all years but I'm not too sure about the 89 as there are some small differences between that bike and the later models.

This is the header on the 96 FZR compared to the header that was on my 91 FZR, also I took the side fairing off so you guys can see it better. One of the headers isn't stock, unless there are two different stock types. Hope you guys can see the difference, it (96 FZR one) really sticks out toward the front tire a lot..it doesn't look stock. I think the header that was on my 89 FZR looked exactly like my 91 header.

The one in your hand=Not Stock (notice it's a bigger diameter?). Probably a V&H (I could be wrong though)
The one on the bike=See my previous post

oh, wow, I guess it was a Muzzy I had on mine, it looks exactly like yours, except mine was a lot older, I had an exhaust leak though, right between where the pipes merged into one. I wondered why it was the same size as the R6 header that I got that I was going to put on, people said the R6 header was a little larger (in runner diameter) than the stock and I thought I had a stock one but it was the same size so I was confused, now it makes sense. Oh well, I have a stock YZF600 header on now, and it's the same size as the muzzy but it's 4-2-1 instead of 4 - 1. Good to know..thanks! Now I might even consider welding a patch in the Muzzy header and sanding it and painting it with high temp paint so it looks better. Crap, but it won't fit with the YZF600 oil cooler that I have on now.. :ermm: ..crap ..sorry, I'm rambling/thinking..lol
