why does this fzr sound like a v twin, 93 fzr600, ive gone thru all i can think of,the plugs the coils, changed the cdi, intake boots, and the carbs have been cleaned,

bike runs but with little power, just doesnt sound right, and it boggs as you rev it too,....(thou i dont know how good the pressure is)it gets fuel, and all 4 plugs are getting a spark to them,is there any other thing that would cause this bike to run this rough?

coils check out good, cdi is working, i can only think the intake boots might be leaky even thou they look ok..outside had small cracks, but the inside look perfect...the carbs where dirty and have been cleaned out and the bike still runs rough, which drives me to think, either fuel pressure is too low, or the intake boots are leaky,..since i sprayed carb cleaner around the carbs and the motor seems to rev up. is this comon,or do i have a problem bike in my hands?

how do i remove the jets for cleaning,i dipped the carbs, but was unable to get the jets out to clean the jets, the seats and the needles,i can see all four throttle bodies are spraying good gas when i rev it, i mean it runs and starts right away, but it sounds horrible,it sat for a long time, so the first thing i did was the tank, new fuel filter, plugs, coils, cdi, removed carbs and cleaned them,

removed intake boots and covered small outside cracks with black rubber gsktmaker epox.(just to make sure),and im having no luck getting rid of the constant miss, really sounds like a 250 dirtbike almost,

it idles but slowly goes down to a stall, takes a few minutes to die out, unless you rev it. its been a head ache banghead , its my younger cuzins first bike and hes exited but i havent been able to figure this one out yet. any help will be greatly apreciated. thanx.. i have a fox eye yzf 600r myself, ill post pics up sometime...peace! and thnx for any help!

Sounds to me like you have problem carbs. Since the jets are what delivers the fuel and you mentioned you didnt clean them I would def start there. Take a look at the wiki for some direction and quality carb pics.

its suposed to have a stage 3 jet kit, i do see the full d&d exhaust on it ,bigger header and all...has a k&n in the air box, this shouldnt make a differrnce in how it runs though, it should still purr, like all 4cyl 4 stroke bikes right? and not sound like a really strong dirt bike....it revs, lazy thou...and it moves like a moped under load, until it comes to life but still sounds like ishh...and it doesnt pick up like it should, i will clean jets, but they should be ok since i dipped the carbs completely submerged in cleaner, for many hours but too, i will be sure to actually clean those sukers, couldnt figure out how to get to the jets, and i was just stomped so i took a break...lol.just seen how in the wiki, thnxx ...peace!

Is it an exhaust leak? Check to make sure that all of the exhaust gaskets are there and that the headers are on tight.

Are all four header pipes HOT when it runs?

If you couldn't get the jets out, the carbs are NOT clean.

Gunk gets trapped behind the jets-even if dipped.

If you dipped the carbs but didn't take the jet blocks out, the jet block seal/o-rings are prolly GONE/gooey now-they're a kind of rubber (viton?) that doesn't tolerate carb cleaner well.

The jets should just screw out. If they don't, they are surely corroded and this isn't helping you.

You didn't lose the tiny o-rings or the tiny washers on the mixture screws did you? You can get an air leak there that will screw up the run condition.

Like RR stated, the 2 jets in the middle you see will screw right out:

:headbang: rock on! thanx for the hints, its been helpful...i will let yall know what turns up,im changing the fuel pump,(have a spare),cleaning jets as i type,lol,...oh,i must check compression next,i think it can have a stuck ring? since it sat for so long, but runing the motor shouldhave unstuck it...we warmed it up nicely... :headscratch: i dont know ,i hope that cleaning the jets works, all the rubbers are good, surprisingly,so i hope this works,...so i can have good news for the post...lol,check ya later..peace!!!
