need advice on r6 front end conversion

any body know how hard and what i will need to convert my 93 fzr 600 front end with a 2000 r6 front end.. what mods ect.. anything will help thanks

like, the suspension? or the fairing?

theres the threaded rod way

and theres the right way.
You have the r6 stem pressed out of the r6 lower triple, and the same with the fzr stem. then you weld around the base ofthe fzr stem and then turn it down on a metal lathe then have it pressed into the r6 lower triple...and wala, your done.

You can send your r6 lower triple/stem and fzr stem out to Modking and he can do all the machining for you.
And I think that ThatKid might be able to do it as well.

If your after performance and not just looks then ohlins springs,oil and race tech emulators will work better than stock r6 front end.

but the stock stuff isnt adjustable i didnt think where as the r6 are?

Once you emulators are set and spring rate(linear)are correct you wont need adjustment.My emulators are revalved to suit racing.

how much was it roughly to get all that done? trying to figure out the best route bc im getting sick of the front end diving and bein mushy.. and my buddy has a front end set up off a 2000 r6 for 250 trying to figure out wat will be best

No offence but with what 30 years or so of rod centered race front suspension on some world class race bikes that was a bit mis-leading .

Rod centers are very cheap the machining is minimal cost and if you are savvy done for a couple of beers thro the back door of a local machine shop.
where as what you propose is the "right way" is all VERY skilled work which is why ModKing & ThatKid are the only ones on the list who do it.

And, might I add...

Using the rod center method allows a fairly easy way of restoring a given headstock offset, or dialing in a desired offset.

I notice that many of the USD setups have less offset than the original FZR headstock-that MAY be what someone is after, but if I were to "upgrade" my forks I think I would like to maintain the geometry while gaining rigidity.

I sent mine to ohlins workshop and paid $1070nzd which is 750usd approx.
the labour content was a third of this amount but they revalved the emulators as part of this cost.They also adjust the front end if required at rtrack and swap springs if your not happy with the settings at no extra cost.
In our postclassic class we have no option as we are not allowed to fit later front shock to our bikes but can rework what we have as long as they look stock.
Instant 1-2 second lap time improvement and the lap times are all close within .4seconds when they used to be spread by greater than 1second from slowest to fastest lap.

If all you're worried about is the diving I think Mossy's on the right track here. Just get yourself some stiffer straight wound springs, heavier oil, and the emulators (if you got the dough) and be done with it. Also, as a couple of the other fellas alluded to, going with a different front end will mean offset differences. etc. Again - if diving is the issue - spend $120 or so on some springs and oil and have the job done in about an hour or two (a bit more if you do the emulators as well). Most of the time will be spent getting the right spacer length...
