Headlight/electrical issue

So I rode my brothers new bike home today, and the headlights didn't work. Nate and I checked the bulbs and the wiring inside the lowbeam/highbeam switch and everythign seeemed fine. We also noticed that the light on the dash doesn't show up for high beam. We checked the fuses and they looked ok as well.

Secondly, as I was riding home, the bike lurched back for a second as if it turned off and then back on, and then I lost all the backlights for the gauges, but the turn signal light still worked. I'm going to check the fuses tomorrow again and do a charging test, but any ideas on the headlights or the sudden lurch while riding?

I'd be looking pretty closely at the big main plugs (electrical connectors) where they come out of the frame and head forward, and at the wiring around the birdcage(upper fairing mount).

Sounds like something is vibrating/rubbing and throwing these intermittants around.

Does anyone have the part number for the headlight please? I pulled em out yesterday and left them at Nate's house and I wanted to go get some new ones today.

Another thing that it could be is the starter switch. The headlights and dash lights don't come on on mine half the time unless I wiggle the starter switch after starting it up. my2cents

Nate and I tried wiggling it a little bit/pulling it out, etc. But maybe i'll tear that control apart this afternoon. I checked the charging and it stays around 14v without problems through 5k rpm, but i noticed that there was some battery splashage on the inside of the battery box :-(

Also, i thought the main fuse was supposed to be 30amps? The one in there was 20a

Then check out the igniter......

That looks like an exup ignition box with the leads that go to the exup servo cut off. Might want to check the motor and see if it actually had the holes in block and they were plugged.

ohhh interesting. I'll take a look

Also I ran to the store and found the light. H4 9003 is what the bulb is.
