r6 tail swap

I am wondering if there is a way to put the r6 tail on my fzr 600 where it will support 2 passengers. The method I read on a site makes it either a 1 seater or isnt stable enough to have 2 people sit on it. Has anyone successfully put an r6 tail on the fzr to where it supports 2 people? Also how much are used tails going for? My friend has an extra one and I wanna know how much to offer him if I can even do this successfully. Any help is appreciated.

It can be done. Best options is to either:

1) Cut the FZR subframe off and fabricate in the one from a R6.
2) Weld in some metal brackets to the FZR subframe to hold the passenger seat in correctly.

If you make a bracket to support the rear seat it can be welded or bolted to the fzr sub frame. Thats what I did. It held and worked just fine.

I am so jealous of all you guys, your bikes look amazing and it is how I want mine to look. My buddy has a 08 tail for an r6 i want to put on my bike. What kind of bracket do I need? Im guessing I need to fabricate it and where would it be welded/bolted? Sorry I dont have alot of time with going to school full time year round and working to look it up right now, I just would like to know how to do it exactly before I buy the tail off of my friend. Also how much is a good price to pay for the tail?

it all depends .. is it just the tail . you will have a gap in front of the seat from the gas tank . It will take some fabricating , but anythings possible with the right tools and plan . You will need .
Tail
Front Seat .Rear seat or Cover/Cowl
most definetly the 08R6 subframe which u can prob attain thru ebay fairly new so could cost a little<will have to be welded on to the bike frame or weld brackets since it prob bolts up to frame . i think youd be better off trying a 03-05 r6 style tail can find them pretty cheap somtimes if u search craigslist or ebay . I would try R1 02-03 lol
Undertail but it will look akward without the pipe coming out the rear but if change is what your looking for then try it out .

08 r6 tails are tiny and will take alot of subframe modding to get it to work.
i say go find a cheap r1 or r6 tail of a earlier date. 02-03 r1...
iv got an 04-06 r1 tail along with the plastics but i dont like the tail.
i had a spare r1 tail and passenger seat that i gave to tampa...i think he sold it allready though.

if i were to do another tail swap, it would be a cbr600/1000rr tail.

There was someone else new on the site that has a ninja tail on his and it looks very good, not sure what year it is though. Here is a link he had for pics of the tail.

Moo's bike is a 1K. Bolt on subframe which can sometimes make tail swaps easier since one can just make a new subframe or use the subframe for the tail they want and that can be al bolted together.

As said it really depends on how creative and how much work you want to put in. Unfortunately, NOTHING is "bolt on" on the fzr 600...but don't let that stop you.

Agreed

Depends on the price and modding ability.
