Quick ignition coil question!

if I swap the two wire connectors that connect to the harness on one coil, will it switch the feed for the two wires that go to the plugs?
I ask cuz on the 400 coils, the 1 &4 plug coil has a longer 4 wire and a short 1...and on the 600 it has a longer 1 wire and a shorter 4...

yea,

, i guess ill just have to see and try it.
i have it all hooked up now and i synced the carbs again but it just isnt anywhere as smooth as it was before.
it did run better though, so I know I needed knew coils...and the thing is, it wasnt even the coil that had the torn wire

...it was the other one that goes to plug 1&4, so my 2/3 was fine...(3 was the torn wire)
I think I have to look into a new pickup coil/fly wheel.
hey tampa, is it easy to take off your new flywheel?
Id like to slap it on mine real quick and find out if thats the problem or whatever...
if its not, then iv got a bad piston ring

I still don't think it's your piston ring, that smoke is BLACK, not grey like burning oil. Oil would be coming through the ring, not fuel. I still say it's a jet or float---i may be wrong but just my .02
As for the flywheel....that bitch is NEVER coming off again lolol. Just to get the last one off was SHITTY!
WE CAN however, try a different pickup on ur stator cover.. I have that extra one layin around. I really doubt its the flywheel unless it got damaged and that couldn't happen, you didn't get rocks in it or anything...

well, about a week beofre my whole problem, my bolts on my cover came loose and only one screw was holding it on by a few threads and I kept hearing a CLANK CLANK CLANK CLAnk really fast and I couldnt figure out what it was for a little while till I noticed my stator cover was bouncing around....so im thinking I might have f**ked up the pickup or flywheel

hey Shred,
The flywheel is just a metal cup with some notches around the outside, so unless you really, really messed up the bike it wouldn't be the flywheel.
Before you go and replace the pickup coil I'd go over every inch of wire between the TCI unit (ignition box) and coils and TCI and pickup coil to make sure you don't have any frays or extreme bends that could kill the signal.
Looking at wires=cheap
Parts=$$$

come over and try the pickup, and we'll check out your flywheel too.

i talked to my boss who is an ex-mechanic and he said that the "pickup coil either works, or it doesnt...that isnt your problem" along with the fly wheel so its not the problem...Im gonna tear the carbs apart again and put the floats back at 21mm how they were before I moved them to standard 24mm.
and i have a stage 3 jet kit it turns out...which really means I should get individual pods or something...

How can you be an ex-mechanic?
