Forthcoming Project

Right, I've decided - this winter my FZR is coming apart, right to the last nut and bolt, and being rebuilt afresh for summer road fun, and a bit of playful sprinting & road class 1/4 mile larking.

I'll probably take her off the road Octoberish when the weather starts to close in, and begin then, leaving me 5 or 6 months to stock up on parts.

So far i'm thinking.

FZR400 frame, or have the existing frame blasted and coated - opinions?

Original forks - they're in very good nick, so new springs and oil.

R6 blue dot brakes.

FZR600R or Thundercat tank - opinions?

FZR400 swinger

Tail - I'm not decided yet, but I'm capable of the fabrication to fit pretty much anything - opinions?

Wheels - stock, but powedercoated anew. I may go to a 17 rear in the interests of tyre choice, but i'm not worried about going phatter as I want to keep it light and flickable - opinions?

Motor - stock, but probably with a top end rebuild. She runs ok, but with 50k miles it'd be rude not to while the motor's out. Then pod filters and a reject kit - opinions?

Exhaust - Thundercat 4-2-1 front, R6 tail, which I have now and which is already in A1 condition.

Fairing - I'm not sure whether to leave her naked, or fit an R6 fairing, or what. Opinions?

I don#t want to throw money at the bike unnecessarily, but I appreciate that some strategic spending will be sensible. For example, the existing forks are A1 and can stay, but I'd be prepared to have the bodywork pro painted.

So guys, ideas, tips, pointers, food parcels and money all greatly appreciated - lets have a bit of fun planning this while I stock up on the parts.

Cheers,

Rich

Well, that's one dare I can take on board!

I've seen a tank on ebay, though I won't say what it is cos I don't want some other bugger winning it.
