Its a FZR 600 1991.
we tested the spark caps and only one ohm'd at 9.xx, the others didn't ohm near spec(9-11)k

Then we tested the coils and wires, all ohm'd within spec.

so we took the one good spark cap and put it on the coil, with a good spark plug and still no spark.

We then tested the stator pickup ...it ohm'd at .225k..... tell me whats up here people

check fuses.
did you go threw the other prossesses it showed on the manual for troubleshooting no spark??
it could be the VR/main relay/fuse/ect.

I wasn't getting spark before because i didn't have all the coils grounded. By that i mean each plug must be attached to a spark plug and grounded.

O really, Then this is exactly the problem... but will the coils ground if the spark caps don't OHM correctly?

Also, all fuses are fine

Now another question. When we put a test light on the coils and bump it over, it's not flickering on and off. Shouldn't the test light go on and off to show that the coils are going on and off? or not?

Ya man, we did everything that the manual said to do, but when we tested for spark, we had only ONE cap and ONE spark hooked up, the other wires were just chillin. Maybe i need to know how to correctly check for spark on a bike. guess its not like a car??? :duh:

Pull the plug wires off. Then take out one plug at a time and put it into the corresponding wire. Hold it up to the frame and hit the starter. Do this for all the plugs. Do you see spark?

And no, when i had all the wires out ,and tested the one that had a good plug cap, there was ZERO spark....I've done this many times on a car, i know what to look for.

i tested the VR plug like suggested. I used a auto-ohm meter and it read .6 ohms for both the 2nd and 3rd white wire. I used a different ohm meter and set it to 200. It read 1.0 ohm for both wires... So is it my stator coil or my digi ign?

Bridge the connection on the kickstand safety switch. You'll see a sensor at the base of the kickstand, follow the wires from that until it comes to a plug(two wire). Unplug that and stick a piece of metal or something into the plug(engine side).

oh yea, make sure when your trying to get spark to have the bike in nutrual, AND have the side stand up..
try starting it like that and see if you get anything

iv sat in a parking lot for 30 min trying to figure out why my bike wouldnt start when I discovered the problem was that the bike was in 1sr gear

We already did the neutral and sidestand checks guys, thanks though...... I just need you, shredex, to come test that digi ignition for me sometime this week.

We have narrowed it down to either the stator pickup or the digi ignition.
