RC51 swap????
I can get an rc51 engine for about 200 bucks less the intake. How hard would it be to mount this motor in this bike?

i would think that would be WAY beyond the scope of your abilities as well as mine but i mean anything can be done if you have enough tools, time and money

Anything is possible man, no one has ever done it before that I remember. You will have to weld special brackets. You are now an engineer my friend.......
Re: RC51 swap????
I wish you luck. Mounting a big vtwin in a frame meant for an i-4 half it's size...again good luck.

Re: RC51 swap????
Well it wouldn't be an easy task that's for sure. Being that its a v-twin, I'm just not sure how it would fit in the frame. The rear cylinder would probably hit the gas tank, so a yzf (i think) tank could be swapped in. And depending on how much room there is side to side, the sprocket may not line up.
The rear header might be an issue too. I can weld aluminum well, so making my own subframe shouldn't be a big deal.
Just wondering if anyone has tried anything like this and if its reasonably possible. Reasonable being the key.
Lol, on the engineer note, I've been doing things like this since I was 14, and am going to school for mech. engineering for the 2nd time around...
One major thing I'm concerned with is the motor doesnt come with the intake. And instead of buying all the FI and computer and stuff, I would just do some custom carbs. But the bike may need the ecm for other things.....thats where I'm getting out of my league.

Re: RC51 swap????
You know that's not a bad idea at all. Then I could really go ape shit on the bike and make it a real street fighter. That's what I'll do. I'll start looking for a wrecked or blown vfr.
thanks!

Re: RC51 swap????
I know, I've been seeing them go for over a grand. I'll have to look into the sp1 thing. I just want a big twin.
