Is 18V high voltage?

Post by BAT »

I'm thinking yes. Almost all of the lights are burned out and it doesn't look good around the plastic seam of the VR. The battery sizzles a little after running it too.

Shouldn't it only be like 14V at most?

Get that VR off your bike and don't run with it again unless you want to replace all your lights and battery!

I upgraded to a YZF VR, best decision in my life...................................ever.

Check your battery levels. Chances are the acid evaporated a good bit.

This could be why I got the bike so cheap. Pretty cheap fix though.

Check your battery and change/upgrade your VR before you start seeing collateral damage to other electronics due to your current VR's failure.

Thanks for the morning laugh.

Yea, I won't even start the bike until I get one in there. I wonder if its what ruined the fuel pump, or vice versa. The swapped in tach doesn't work either, but the old one does. The cluster is broke.

The YZF regulators seem to be going pretty cheap on ebay.

my VR cooked the tacho, fuel pump and numerous lights. The main fuse holder was a melted mess too.

Well, I guess I can't complain too much. Its the reason I got the bike for the price I did. Fuel pump and VR are cheap. Finding a decent looking tach/cluster may be another story.
