I'm posting this question up on the yzf600 forums too, but i just found an R1 rear rim and tire beside my friends house like someone was throwing it away. It's 98 - 02 rim, according to what i've looked up in google image search it's that year range. tread is worn but ok. I was wondering if anyone knows if it would fit the yzf600 swingarm. It has the same 3 spoke pattern that we have so it would match the front. The tire size is 190/50/17. It would look sweet on my bike if it fits! Thanks..

well if the rim reads 5.5 inch you could probably make some custom spacers sort of how ABS did so to fit the R6 wheel on his swap , but as far as just swap and ride i doubt it will fit also you must check if the sprockets will line up as you will probably be off center and also the disk brake might not be the same..im thinking the main problem will be the axle bolt as im sure it will be alot thicker then the yzf600.. all things to consider but this is FZR and king of mod bikes so anything is possible with the right fabrication ..Goodluck

it was free too! and after i posted the question, i remembered the yzf i'm parting out right now is up on jack stands, the rear wheel is loose so i can just pull it out and even measure teh two tires side by side, or slide the r1 rim into the yzf600 swinger..axle is in my room, so i could just slip it through the rim. i need to go to bed..i didn't really have to even post this, it was excitement since i just picked it up 45 minutes ago, mixed with me being tired at 2:30am and can't think straight..i'm going to bed...

I saw a yzf600 rim yesterday that had a 190 on it. Crazy!

The wheels are not the same. They are both 3 spoke but if you look at the spoke pattern they are way different. It might take some spacers to work but I would not put a 190 tire on an fzr. 180 at the most.

If it's a 5.5 rim like the r6 then it should be fine. ABS929CBRRR and BMiller have both added R6 rims to the YZF swinger and can get you the proper specs to make it happen.

use 99-02 R6, my chain was like 1/8" away from the 5.5" rear rim with a 180 on it. i wont say it will work, when i worked out the math the chain would hit reason i desidned it for a R6 wheel. holla if ya got any problems.

there is alot of work involed in doing the swap to go find my thread in the hybrid section and see if you wanna attempt it. but i would sell the wheel for a R6 one personaly.

Your all forgetting about the axle size.

Oh yeah..it's a good amount size bigger-the R1. So you'd have to sort that out too.

no...axle is same size as R6...you need to make my custom sleeves, but i cant garentee the dimensions fot lineing up the r6 wheel in the yfzr swingarm would be the same as the r1.

He still has the FZR swingarm on the bike. Even if he put the YZF swingarm on it, the axle diameter would be different compared to stock FZR or YZF items. So the axle size does matter for this swap, but not for the wheel itself.

ok then hes screwed haha. you cant even stuff a yzf600r wheel in a fzr swigarm.

it doesn't matter anyway, i picked up the rim and tire at night, when i looked at it the next day the tread is more worn than it seemed, and the rim has a huge dent in one side. It held air for a second, then when i bounced it a couple times it just started hissing and went flat. I can probably sell the rotor on ebay, but that's all i can do with this thing..i'm gonna junk it.

My buddy Sean who lives in N.GA has one on his YZF........it wasn't his was it?

You can make it fit, but I wouldn't recommend it. As for making the rim work.........I have no idea, but if the R6 rim can fit as said, I'm sure it's do-able.

When Rob and I went to pick up the YZF motor from the drunk in SC the wheel sitting there had a 190 on it.

be a man a run a 200 like me hehe. i make 180's look like front tires! just remeber my rims 6.0 wide, thats as wide as my civics rims...!

180 is a good sized tire on a 5.5" rim, 190's does not fit the profile very well. way more tires out there in 180 profile then the larged 190 and 200 tires...my rear tire was $220...same tire in a 180 is like $170. stay 180, find a 5.5 rim one day and try a swap. you'll like it. nuff of us have done it now and they handle decent too.
