Front sprocket Nut Torque

Just curious if any one has the torque spec for the front sprocket nut? I have a clymer manual and it list it as 43ft lbs which seems kinda low to me. Plus it has come loose a couple times even with the lock washer in place. When I took the sprocket off the other day, I flattened the lock washer and was able to take the nut off with my fingers. Anyone with a service manual show something different?

43ft/lbs(60n/m) is what the factory manual says.

There should be NO way it should come loose with the locktab washer properly installed. Are you sure the washer is engaging the splines?

The lock washer is fully engaged. It has not come completely loose but would spin back and forth against the lock washer. I will try that torque again and see what happens.

You need to bend forward one section of the lock washer over the nut(towards you).

It is bent up against a flat part of the nut. I will try to get is as flush as possible this time. The last time I took it off it was not visibly loose but I was able to take it off with by hand and it was torqued last time I put it on and even used lock tight. Dont get it. Thanks for the torque spec though.

Is this an aftermarket sprocket? Are you sure the nut is torque-ing against the sprocket and not bottoming out on the splines/shoulder?
