aside from the rattle i have when the bike is running, the clutch is now slipping when its cold and the biting point is now right at the end of travel of the clutch lever. I have adjusted the clutch at the engine end and readjusted the free play at the lever but its still the same.
Any ideas?

good one, but surely the biting point should be around half way instead of at the end??
The slightest touch on the lever causes it to slip even when warm

Oil? What kind did you use? What about adjusting clutch.

He said hes adjusted both points. The only thing I could think of is maybe the clutch is going. Did you look at it and see if it is beat or wore or broken?

Payne - it may be time to pull the clutch pack, inspect the disks, springs, basket and hub.

I agree in that it's time to inspect the clutch. If you have to replace the clutch it's neither hard nor expensive to do it yourself.

I looked at the plates when it was in bits and they were within the spec listed in the manual, and steel plates didn't look warn either.
I have been told that if the clutch plates have been replaced before with some cheap ones, that could cause it, but i never remember it being this bad before it was stripped.
The oil i'm using is what is listed by yamaha, don't know what oil was in it before.
I've ordered a clutch cable just incase it is stretched and causing these problems, but if that don't work then i guess i'll have to strip the clutch down and recheck the plates, basket etc.
Thanks for all the help

Did you check the basket and hub for notches? While de-clutched, the plates vibrate and pound grooves into the basket fingers and hub splines; the plates can hang up in these grooves and can't be properly squeezed together by the pressure plate.
