Hi guys,
I have just bought some tyres from my local tyre depot and they gave me a choice of dunlop or bridgestone. I chose the bridgestone because i was told they are duel compound and give me more mileage than the dunlops. I do more touring than fast riding so i bought them. They are bt014. I was just wondering if anybody has used these tyres and can tell me how they were and what sort of mileage i could expect.

That's pretty much the tire of choice when you have the 18 inch wheel on the back. They're a great tire.

yup I ride on them and love them.

What's the difference between 140 and 150? I live in Maryland. So I'm guessing any bridgestone dealer should have these?

150 is slightly wider, you probably wont feel much of a difference.

I run a 150/70 BT016 and love it. The 150/60 has a wider contact patch but it's more than the bike can use with stock ground clearance. My last BT014 was trash and got a flat spot too quickly , the BT016 has a three compound rear and two compound front and hasn't let me down yet. Forget Dunlop, ran a qualifier up front when I first got the bike and it nearly killed me letting the whole bike push out of my land

I'll try the 150's out. Is that a 150 in your pic shredex?

I run a 160/60-18 BT-021, Works well with the amount of traveling I do on my FZR

Ahh, the American obsession with bigger is better again, yes with a fat tyre you get a bigger hit on your pocket and you get bigger chicken strips of rubber that you paid for and never used.

On a racer forum this afternoon a guy was having his FZR400's rear tyre referred to by a Ducati owner as a bicycle tyre. The 400 guy showed the Ducati round the track all the way as he could actually use his tyres in the corners where the Ducati could not.

Moral buy tyre you are gonna use that were designed for the bike, not the ones to fit your ego.

While normally we agree YG ,on this one we don't . The 150/60 does indeed leave some unused rubber where the 150/70 does not, that being on stock 600 ground clearance. The larger size undeniably opens up our tire options and gives us the chance to try out some new tech. I'll openly admit that a few times the performance of my tires has kept my enthusiasm from introducing me to the pavement .

I won't deny that there's a psychological effect to having a larger tire out back but as some men need liquid courage at the bar, some men can benefit from some added courage their tires provide. It doesn't take a lot of riding to realize that a skittish rider is just as dangerous as a reckless one, at least a larger tire can help quell the feelings of the first.

edit: and I'm not denying the 140 rear will be quicker handling, just pointing out the benefits of the other available sizes

I just bought Avon tires this year and so far I love them. reelrazor recommended them and I can say they are way better than the Bridgestone I had.

I purchased a bt16 150/70/18, not only is it somewhat larger than the 60 but in my opinion it looks awesome. It will last longer than most all the tires in our size, and I picked up all the side strips on mine in the first few days of riding. I've not had it slip out yet. Super nice tire, however it is occasionally more expensive than the alternatives. I loved my 14 but the 16 is fantastic.
